1) V.O. Chidambaranar port created Record in Single day Handling of cargo

V.O Chidambaranar port created a new record by handling 1,80,597 Metric Tonnes of cargo in a single day on 27th July 2019, Surpassing the previous single-day record of 1,77,639 Metric Tonnes on 16th November 2017.
The Major items in this cargo were Coal (79,230 Tonnes), Containerized cargo (52,200 Tonnes / 2,900 TEUs) and General Cargo (49,167 Tonnes).

2) PM releases results of 4th cycle of all India Tiger Estimation-2018

On the occasion of International Tiger Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the results of the fourth cycle of all India Tiger Estimation-2018, at Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi-today. 

The count of tigers in India has risen to 2967, in 2018, according to this census.

PM said that in the last five years, while work has processed at a fast pace for next-generation infrastructure, the forest cover in the country has also grown. There has also been an increased in also grown. There has also been an increase in the "protected areas", in 2014, there were 692 protected areas. which increased to more than 860 in 2019. The community Reserves have also grown from 43, in 2014, to more than 100 Now.

3) IN LCU L-56 Commissioned into the Indian Navy

IN LCU L56, the sixth ship of the Landing Craft Utility (LCU) MK IV class was commissioned into the Indian Navy by Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, AVSM, VSM Flag Officer Commanding in- Chief, Eastern Naval Command at an impressive ceremony held at Naval Dockyard.Visakhapatnam Yesterday 29, Jul 29.

LCU 56 is am amphibious ship with its primary role being transportation and deployment Main Battle Tanks, Armoured Vehicles, Troops and Equipment from ship to shore. LCU L56 would be administered and based in port Blair under the NAVCC in ANC.

Addressing the gathering, Vice ADM Jain congratulated the GRSE for being the first shipyard in the country to have built the 100th warship.

4) Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar takes oath as the new Governor of West Bengal

Kolkata, July 30, 2019

Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar took oath as the new Governor of West Bengal at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata today.

The Chief Justice of Calcutta Court, Justice T B N Radhakrishna administered the oath to the new Governor in presence of Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee, State Ministers and other dignitaries.

Shri Dhankar replaced Shri Keshri Nath Tripathi, who has completed his tenure on July 23rd.

5) "PF near you" to be held on August 13

Regional Office of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation is conducting "Nidhi Aapke Nikat" 
on August 13, 2019. A time slot for subscribes/Members/Pensioners is 10.30 AM to 1.00 PM. 

Employers are 3.00 PM to 4.00 PM and for Exempted establishments located in a jurisdiction is 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM.
